Remembering Sir Andrew Davis

Station Blog2024-4-26By: Classical Staff

All of us here at The New Classical FM, along with the entire classical music community have been mourning the loss of Sir Andrew Davis, who passed away on April 21st.

He was a beloved figure classical music who achieved incredible success conducting orchestras all over the world. This loss hits especially close to home as he was the Conductor Laureate of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

He was a friend of The New Classical FM, and had stopped by for chats over the years, including this interview with Kathleen Kajioka from Sunday Night at the TSO, which you can check out by clicking here.

We have been paying tribute to him throughout the week by playing his recordings. Mark Wigmore recently welcomed Michael Vincent of Ludwig-Van.com to discuss his lasting legacy and impact on the world of classical music.
