Daniel Vnukowski was joined by young composer/pianist Jonathan Kravchenko to tell us about his new operatic creation entitled Tango For Two, coming to Trinity St Paul Centre, (427 Bloor St W, Toronto), May 5th and 17th.
Tango for Two tells the story of a sailor who arrives in Halifax after discovering the tango in Argentina. While in port, he falls in love with a beautiful woman and they dance the night away. Now he must choose between love and his duty to the navy.
Jonathan has crafted an engaging mix of opera and dance, combining colourful Latin flare with the mysterious folk-tales of the East Coast. Being inspired by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and other neo-romantic influences, Jonathon hopes for his work to be “A happy opera that anyone can enjoy ”.
